“You want the power, you little sniveling scaredy cat?” growled Ichabod. “Open your mouth.” He grabbed Joshua’s jaw with both hands, prying it apart. A line of hideous miniature birds flew toward the open lips.

“There is nothing you can do here, Sechrino. This shivering boy is mine!” Ichabod threw his head back and let out a loud victorious laugh.

“But there is something I can do.” A voice spoke from the doorway. Ichabod snapped his head around and leaped to both feet. Joshua could barely breathe. Kristin stood in the opening with two dancing feathers in her extended palm. Pinpoints of light shot out and disintegrated the attacking birds. Kristin walked toward Ichabod. “Get out!”

Description

Oh, my goodness, I started reading Alexandria out loud to my son, Brock. We read all the way to chapter 7 last night. It is the first time I have read a chapter book to Brock who is 7. He was so quiet and still, I thought he was asleep. And when I asked if he was asleep, he replied, “No, mom, I’m just very entertained and I am trying to listen to the story.” You could’ve knocked me over with a leaf. His attention span has never been that long in the past. He wanted to go to school today and tell all his friends about his new book, Alexandria.

Both of my boys, ages 7 and 11, are absolutely loving the book. They love the suspense and thrill.

Liz Darding (Mom)

Alexandria is the bomb! It rocks! It is amazing!

About Karen

Karen Seelenbinder I have been creating stories since the age of 14. Sitting with a blank computer screen and filling it with the words to a new story is one of my favorite things to do. Every book I write centers around the question, “What to do?” Whether it is figuring out how to bring comfort to someone with severe memory loss or telling a busy, buzzing fly, “Be still and know that I am God.”

From picture books, to a middle grade novel, to a non-fiction memoir, all my books are built on the rock foundation of God’s word. His Word, when applied to everyday life, always answers the question, "What to do?"

I live in Ohio where I enjoy gardening, bicycling, teaching the clarinet and piano, and caring for the elderly.

Dear Caregiver: Take a Moment and Walk with Me

The stories in Dear Caregiver: Take a Moment and Walk with Me, are based on my personal experiences with Katherine, a woman in her 70’s, who lived with the physical and mental disabilities caused by Lewy Body Dementia. During a five-year time period as her caregiver, I recorded each treasured moment within 24 hours after each event occurred. Katherine’s words and expressions remained fresh in my mind, despite the passing of the years.

Work With Me
